I'm Otávio Morais, a data engineer. My craft is moving, shaping and making sense of data: pipelines, warehouses and the glue code nobody sees until it breaks.
But the part of me that built this site is the one that wants to know how things work underneath. That's why I'm learning cybersecurity, taking systems apart to see where they fail, and low-level programming, getting closer to the memory, the bytes and the machine. Data taught me to care about what flows through a system; these two are teaching me to care about the system itself.
This is where I write it down. Notes start rough and get better as I learn more. Some are quick fixes I don't want to forget, some are longer write-ups, and some are just ideas I'm still chewing on. Projects show up here with the notes that explain how and why they were built.
Right now I'm looking for my next role, studying Rust and reading Crime and Punishment. If you're hiring, let's talk.
If something here is wrong, tell me. That's half the point of writing in public. For anything less technical, there's my digital garden.
