I'm Otávio Morais. I'm finishing a degree in Systems Analysis and Development at FATEC Sorocaba, in Brazil (June 2027), and applying for a master's abroad starting in September 2027.

I work with data, but the part of me that built this site is the one that wants to know how things work underneath. That's why I'm learning cybersecurity, taking systems apart to see where they fail, and low-level programming, getting closer to the machine.

Where those two meet is what I want to research: dirty data in attack detection. Anomaly detectors learn from logs, and logs are messy. Some of that mess is accidental, and some of it can be planted on purpose (data poisoning). I want to understand how much of it a detector can take before it stops catching attacks.

My undergraduate thesis, still being written, is on the data side: predicting Sofascore player ratings with Random Forests. The answer was mostly no, and the notes explain why.

This is where I write it down. Notes start rough and get better as I learn more. Projects show up here with the notes that explain how and why they were built.

Right now I'm writing my thesis, studying Rust and reading Crime and Punishment. If you work on anything close to this, I'd like to hear from you.
